Great for data storage area, not near personal workspace in home or small office
I've used Snap Servers for NAS, and have found them very easy to setup, intuitive interface, extremely, extremely reliable in my home office setting for many, many years, and have really enjoyed the "safety net" of RAID 1 mirroring. My last Snap Server has worked well for > 5 years, and I was hoping for the same from this. I had considered the Buffalo Linkstation, but was turned off after reading a few reviews suggesting they were noisy. And, the 410 offered larger capacity at 2 TB, and RAID 1. Unfortunately, the 410 is much noisier than older Snap Servers I've used, and for this reason alone I would not recommend it for home office or small office use. I will likely return this in exchange for the Snap Server 210, for which Adaptec has published acoustic information on its web site (they did not have acoustic information posted on the 410...). The 410 would likely function just fine and be perfect in a data storage facility or some isolated area, but not a work area in which one would want to concentrate, listen to music, have conversations, etc, just too distracting. |  |
