Fortunately, Sousuke is too dense to notice. Assertive, independent, and capable of initiating action, Kaname represents new breed of magical girl. She never whines, the way Hitomi does in Escaflowne, and she's quite capable of braining Sousuke when he sticks his foot in it for the umpteenth time. The result is an imaginative, high-spirited entertainment.
