Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-05-29 Don't use substitutes I have tried the cheap products and they ruin the drum, which is expensive. Stick with the brand name! | | Reviewed on 2008-04-06 The only logical solution This is the genuine product and functions properly without a worry. Costs a little more, but lasts longer. | | Reviewed on 2008-04-04 Brother TN-250 Toner Cartridge I highly recommend using authentic Brother toner cartridges. My Brother MFC-6800 multi-function printer has not functioned correctly when I have used substitute brands.
I typically get less than half of the suggested 2,500 copies per toner cartridge, but this result is to some degree predicted by the Brother "fine print", which states that the 2,500 page count is an estimate that applies only when pages are printed in large batches; I usually print only a few pages at a time.
I try to get more copies out of a toner cartridge by using the following procedure when the "Toner Low" light comes on:
- Remove toner cartridge / drum assembly; leave the toner cartridge in the drum;
- To redistribute the toner, gently shake the drum assembly left and right, then rotate it forward and back;
- Re-install the drum assembly in the printer, close the lid;
- The "Toner Low" indicator should stay off for a while.
This may increase the number of copies that can be printed before the printer decides that the toner cartridge is empty, and refuses to print.
| | Reviewed on 2008-04-04 It's a refill, stay away from it This is basically a misrepresentation. It gives you the impression that you are buying a Brother TN250. But you are not.
My old toner was original from Brother and it's just running out and didn't give me problem at all. However, after using this toner, the first couple pages were ok. But the following ones were almost all black. I took it out and put back in my old toner, all the printouts are now black (actually it's gray coz low in toner). Looks like the drum was ruined by this refill toner! I'd read about people's advice of avoiding this kind of toner and didn't quite believe it. Now I regret... | | Reviewed on 2008-01-31 Love that Brother! I have used an MFC-6800 for almost 6 years now. The model is discontinued but it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I have replaced the drum unit once in all those years, and with Amazon's price and the machine's efficient use of toner, this machine has cost me remarkably little. Brother also allows for free shipping of the empty cartridge back to them for recycling (the label can be downloaded from their website). So for tree huggers, we can feel good about that, too. | |
