Reviewed on 2008-05-15 Simple, And Great ! This review is for the Creative Labs - Zen Stone 2 GB MP3 player in black. No F.M. receiver, no external speaker, no belt clip, arm band or anything else - just a USB cable and headphones. Item pictured is not the correct photo. The photo is for the stepped up version with the LED display screen that shows the track number and time, etc.... This MP3 player is the simple model with no display screen, but it is great anyway ! I received it on May 14th, 2008. I paid $38.71 for it. I charged the battery for 2.5 hours, hooked it up to my Toshiba laptop computer and downloaded a bunch of songs and tried it out. It works perfectly. No software is required to download songs from the computer, to the MP3 player. It's a flash-type player. I use Windows Vista and I was able to very easily transfer songs from my music folder to the MP3 player. The player is very easy to use also. The power button has to be held down for 2 to 3 seconds for the unit to turn on. This feature will prevent the unit from being accidentally turned on if something bumps into it, or if something leans up against it by mistake. Buttons for volume and song forward and song backward, are large enough to press without pressing 2 buttons at the same time. Battery life is only 10 hours on this particular model. I have no problems with that, but I've read other reviews for other versions of this player with the 10-hour battery and a lot of people weren't happy with that. For me, it is fine. Zen Stone has a 2 GB model with a 20-hour battery. Buy that one if 10 hours is not enough battery life. The headphones that come with it are okay. I give the phones an 8 out of 10 rating. They sound great, but I like over-the-head headphones better. They don't fall off your head. These phones are the kind that you have to stick in your ear and on occasion they will fall out if you accidentally hit the wire with your arm, etc... I have my old SONY headphones that I use with this MP3 player and I am happy with them. They are the over-the-head type. I wish that Zen Stone included that type of headphone with this player, but unfortunetly, they do not. You can order accessories for this unit from the Creative Labs website such as armbands, keychains, waist clips, etc... This player comes in 6 different colors. The sound is great for this player. I rate the sound a 10 out of 10 rating. The range of volume is more than acceptable. I would have given this product 5 out of 5 stars. I gave it 4 because of the headphone issue that I mentioned above. This is the only issue that I have with this MP3 player. Putting that issue aside, this player is more than worth it to purchase. You will be very happy with it. I'm glad I chose it.
