Serial tunneling allows two previously non-networked and isolated devices to easily communicate information and operate with existing installed software applications on an Ethernet network, instead of a long serial cable. The Digi One SP works with software applications using TCP/UDP Sockets allowing a serial device to interoperate with the software applications without the need to install a driver.The Digi One SP is easy to install locally or remotely through a variety of IP addressing methods (DHCP, RARP, ARP-Ping) along with an application (included on the installation CD that accompanies the product) that will automatically detect all Digi One SP devices on your network. Also included is a quick-start guide that supports making the network configuration of the product easy and hassle-free.

Reviewed on 2008-05-27 Digi SP1 Review I have used the Digi SP1 serial to ethernet convertor for quite some time. It works great. Only one issue to note: If you have multiple devices that need to be connected, you cannot use this (on more than one device). If you do have this situation, then you could try to mix brands, but I have not tested that idea as of yet. For a single device, it is spot-on and the setup is this: Follow the defaults. Tech support is USA, and is respectful and professional. 5 Stars.
