Replaced the ink, and it'd work again for a month or so. Fed up, I picked up a CX9400Fax for the price of HP ink.
I absolutely love this thing. Fast and quiet, I couldn't ask for a better low cost all in one printer. | | Reviewed on 2008-07-22 Horrible Ink Replacement I have a dedicated printer I use for photos and wanted a cheap all in one that had fax capabilities. I got this when on sale for well under $100 which was a good deal for a basic printer. The problem lies in the ink refills.
As others have said, if just one out of four colors run dry the printer will no longer print documents. After only 3 months of very light use the 3 colors are dry, while black has about %30 left. The weird thing is I print %90 black and white documents, so where is all the color ink going?
Now my printer sits idle, unable to be used even though it has black ink left. I just checked ink prices, its about $60 for a black and 3 color cartridges. It's just ridiculous to go through ink that fast on light use. I simply won't purchase another Epson. Theres no was this model eats that much ink and nobody noticed from Epsons quality control dept.
I also think the printer is quite loud. It has an option to print slower which is quiet mode but it's nowhere near quiet. On the default setting it's loud, especially when it initially starts. It also takes about 30 seconds to warm up and start printing a new page. Steer clear of this one. | | Reviewed on 2008-07-15 DEFICIENCIES in Copying Legal Documents and Multiple Page Print Server Wireless Scanning If you are a small business owner or spend a lot of time in your home office, then you know how importint it is to copy "legal-sized" documents, multiple page scanning, and an ADF that catches each and every page you are scanning or copying. I am a one-man small business operation spending more time than I should on technology which should save me time. If you have the same concerns, then you should read on...
This is a sleek and beautiful printer/scanner, but...
1- It does NOT copy "LEGAL" size documents. I've called technical support, and they do not expect a driver or firmware to be updated anytime soon :(
2- It CANNOT scan "WIRELESSLY" with the Dlink DPR-1260 using Epson's scan software. It does scan via dlink's software "page by page" on the scanner bed by "hand"...It could NOT scan via ADF (automatic document feeder). Epson's Tech Support told me that I should buy the Epson CX9475Fax with a "dedicated" printer server in order to get wireless scanning capability; they do not expect a driver or firmware to be updated anytime soon :(
3- ADF does not catch a batch of 10-15 pages half the time during scanning :(
Next time I purchase a new all-in-one printer/fax/scanner, I will most likely stick to HP. Over the past 10 years, I have purchased only HP's (i.e. HP officejet 7310, HP laserjet 3L, and the HP laserJet 4L). I've never had a problem connecting them with either the linksys or dlink print servers.
With respect to "multiple page" wireless scanning capability, I would recommend an HP with built-in capability. Printer Server technology is still in its infancy!
For those who expects to use this for "small business" or "home office" use, I will only give it one (1) star. For "personal" use, I would give it three (3) stars. | | Reviewed on 2008-07-09 Great machine!! Great machine. 4 in 1. Compact, good looking, easy to install and to set up. Simple to use. Epson!!
Replaces a fax machine, a printer, a copier and a scanner. All in one.
Fast delivery.
Completely satisfied.
I warmly recommend it. | | Reviewed on 2008-07-07 printer purchase the printer arrived within 2 days of purchase. It does not print as fast as described, & some photos lack true clarity. The printer does not come equipped with any USB cords for attachment to your computer. Epson claims this is to pass along savings. The headache and pain it takes to locate and procure the correct attachments is not worth the couple bucks savings. If an item is to be sold, the package should be complete and ready for usage. | |
