Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-03-14 Board DOA Board was doa had to rma to evga I waited over 30 days to try it in my grandsons computer. | | Reviewed on 2008-02-07 easy to install runs perfect Comes with a skimpy manual, but then again it covered the basics as to what you need to do to install it. It helped to give a very simple and easy to install experience. Highly recommend it, it's an excellent price and it runs beautifully. | | Reviewed on 2007-12-16 Making Justice here ,,, ¡GREAT BOARD! I've read the bad raiting review posted before me, and I just think it is not fair, so here is my review.
I am a low budget gamer enthusiast and fan of computer building, and
I've worked before with about 30 diferent MOBOS, AMD and INTEL based systems.
I AM NOT A TECH GUY OR AN OVERCLOCKER.
I received this Board along with an INTEL dual core E2140 and a pair of 1gb corsair xms2 pc5400.
Nothing broken on the package.
Installation was not a problem. Using antistatic wrist band I placed the MOBO inside the case. CPU in place with no problems. LGA 775 fan securing mechanism it is not a good one, but its not only in this Board.
RAM placed on slots without problems. As it is a Dual channel config, Ive placed them in matching colors slots.
Powering the BOARD, its a metter of searching for the right conectors in the power supply cables. There is only one way to fit cables, You cant go wrong doing this. ( I have a 400watt PWS)
Then Ive placed the SATA DVD and hard drive.
Atx case cables, are very clear where to be placed, so is the USB conn.
I didnt clear cmos before turning on the PC.
I installed a xfx 8600 gt PCI express graphics card.
Ive turned on the switch, and at post a message of restarting appeared. So I did and VOILA!!!
After installing wxp pro THERE WAS A PROBLEM: PS/2 MOUSE WILL LIGHT UP BUT WIL NOT WORK!!!!! usb mouse solved this.
PS/2 keyboard works fine.
TESTS:
The Main purpose of this system was gaming, so Ive installed my old games.
Doom 3.- it is a GREAT PLEASSURE TO PLAY IT HERE,, SMOOTH, SMOOTH, No lagging at all, and Ive been using high quality settings.
Unreal tournament 2004 .- Same history, very smooth graphics at high settings, with great colors.
Medal of Honor.- the same great results.
¡¡¡ VERY STABLE, NO FREEZING, NO REBOOTING, NO NOTHING!!!
So far, this is the most stable, high end board Ive owned. For me it is more than enough. The PS/2 maouse issue it has been reported by other users using 650i and 680i chipset, I dont have an answer for that, and I will contact evga support, I will update this issue on this review soon, and I will add the FPS numbers on the games I use.
I am very pleased with my hardware. Im Gaming again !!!!!!!!!!
UPDATE: PS/2 MOUSE ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED. i CHANGED THE MOUSE WITH A NEW ONE AND WORKS JUST GREAT !!!!!
nOW i GIVE 5 STARS | | Reviewed on 2007-12-15 slow torture Since I was seeking a board to use with a E2160 and their site does not show that this board would support it. I emailed them for confirmation before purchasing it. They never responded but I was able to locate correspondance confirming successful installation with this CPU so I bought it.
have this board for two weeks.
Trouble shooting routine for help is to submit question on website and wait for reply.
that means minimum of 2 days for each question.
tech force does not appear to be familiar with the product.
Manual shows a 8 pin connector for CPU Power in 3 places. Took 5 days to learn that manual is incorrect and that the 4 pin connection that I have is not a goof by the factory. Since board will not post I have been told to hookup a case speaker to listen for the beep error message. Only problem is that I can not find a case speaker connection and have waited 2 days for them to tell me where it is. I am still waiting. They were quick to suggest an RMA to Amazon but since there is a long factory guaranty I choose to work it out with them, not a wise decision on my part!eVGA nForce 650i ULTRA Motherboard (122-CK-NF66-T1) | |
