The Ultra-Quiet MicroShred Fellowes MS-460Cs offers greater security plus SafeSense Patent-Pending Technology, which features an active sensor that stops shredding immediately when paper entry is touched. Equipped with an 8.75" wide paper entry, the MS-460Cs easily accepts standard letter or legal-size documents, paper clips, and staples, and shreds as fast as 10 feet per minute. Designed for small businesses with 1-3 users, the Fellowes Powershred MS-460Cs reduces documents to 5/64" x 5/16" higher security micro-shred particles smaller then the length of a standard staple with a virtually silent motor, and shreds up to 10 sheets per pass, 50-100 times per day, for a total daily capacity as high as 1000 sheets! The durable steel cutters also accept credit cards, 3.5" floppies and CDs through a separate entry with its own 1-gallon waste container. Electronic auto start/stop features ensures quick and easy automatic shredder operation. The shredder automatically shuts off and alerts operator when a jam occurs, 6.4-gallon pull-out wastebasket is ajar or shredder is overheated. Its clear window allows the user to see if wastebasket is full. It includes casters for portability.

Reviewed on 2008-03-19 Excellent Performance and Quality Fellowes manufactures another excellent product with the Powershred MS-460Cs. In comparison with other brands that claimed to do similar work, this machine looks and feels far sturdier. The Fellowes is quieter and has the feel of a well built tool. It was shipped fully assembled in its factory packing inside another well packed box for safety. Upon removing it from the box, I found tiny remnants of a previous shredding job in the collection container-obviously a test from the factory to check quality. This beast finely shreds paper into bits that assure security, the reason I upgraded from a strip style shredder. Size of the shredded bits is crucial, but also noteworthy is that this machine cuts clean with no jagged edges to hold the bits together. Once something is run through this shredder, it is shredded for good. Motor noise is very low, even at full load. The noise is a hum instead of a grinding. It came with a container of blade lubricant and some container liners for the shredded pieces. This was a nice touch. I have a much older Fellowes strip-style shredder that I've used in my home office for nearly 8 years. It, like the various Fellowes models we have at work, has never failed me. I'm certain this newest machine will perform equally well for at least that long. After nearly two months of use it feels, sounds, and works like the first day. As a hint for shopping the various Fellowes offerings, I believe their accurate product descriptions are very helpful in determining what size and style machine to buy.

Reviewed on 2008-03-14 amazingly quiet Works great and is super quiet. The shreds are so tiny - think grain of rice. The SafeSense feature works well too. As others have pointed out, the CD and credit card shredder is a separate slot and shreds in rather large strips. Other than that, 100% satisfied.

Reviewed on 2008-03-03 Excellent I am very happy with this shredder. It's so quiet that I can shred while I'm on the phone. It has a large bin so I'm not emptying it every other day. Also, it doesn't get jammed like my last one. The only negative I can see is that the bags don't fit very well and I always end up with some sticking through the front. Definitely not a deal breaker though.

Reviewed on 2008-03-02 Not for credit cards This may be a good unit for paper, but is NOT suitable for credit cards. I put one credit card into this unit and it only strip cut it (versus confetti) and my account number was still readable. This was not acceptable, so I returned the shredder. After further research, I ended up purchasing the Royal 1610X Confetti-Cut Continuous Form Shredder which pulverized my credit cards as well as paper into the same tiny unreadable confetti bits.
