| Product DescriptionMODEL- ITRIPDOCKLCDBLK VENDOR- GRIFFIN TECHNOLOGY FEATURES- iTrip Black LCD Dock Connect Now compatible with all full sized dock connector iPods, including the very newest ones, the new iTrip follows in the tradition of Griffin's iTrip line, with superior performance and innovative features that make the iTrip the most popular iPod FM transmitter in the world. The large, easy to read backlit LCD screen makes setting its digital tuner easy and intuitive. A convenient switch on the side of the iTrip makes it a breeze to select a broadcast frequency. But you would not have to adjust the settings very often -- iTrip remembers its settings for convenience. The compact, self-contained design makes controlling iTrip a snap, perfect for use in autos. One of iTrip's innovative new features (something not found on any other FM transmitter) is selectable LX or DX modes of broadcasting, which allow you to adjust for the absolute best possible audio under real-world conditions. Even in large cities with lots of radio stations crowding the dial, iTrip's DX Mode delivers a background noise level below that of a cassette tape adapter, allowing the music to punch through cleanly. The results are stunning. Another innovative feature gives you the ability to set the iTrip to either US or International tuning modes. International mode allows access to lower frequencies. US mode limits tuning to those frequencies relevant to US stations. The result: no unnecessary scrolling through channels. iTrip requires no batteries, drawing its power directly from the iPod, so there's never a power issue to silence your tunes. www.griffintechnology.com
Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-07-17 Not too bad I ordered this the week before the new iphone came out so it was a little cheaper, I think I only paid $12.95 for it. I have had it for about two weeks now and will address some concerns other people mentioned. 1) probably the most important, the fm transmitter works very well. I have used it in 3 different vehicles while driving all over the Phoenix metro area and it has only been interuppted twice by signals that would have interupted any fm transmitter, 2) it is only an fm transmitter so it is not the stellar quality from a direct connection many people are looking for, i.e. it can not possibly be any better quality than a typical radio broadcast, 3) it attaches to my ipod very securely and I have had no problems with it coming loose and I have thrown it around in my car multiple times, 4) the broadcast signal strength has not been a problme in any of the three vehicles I have been in or my house, and I have used it in a vehicle that has a window antenna and one thta has a traditional antenna, 5) this is the only complaint I have and the reason it only got three stars, the plug in charging ability does not work at all on mine. I can see the ipod change screens and register the charger is plugged in but the darn thing never seems to charge. I have tried it with both the player on and off and it just doesn't seem to charge. This would have been a five star rating for me if the charger worked when plugged into it, thats one of the reasons I picked this product. But overall it transmits well and for the price I can live with charging my ipod before using it with this. One other thing, it does drain the battery faster because the transmitter is powered by your ipod. | | Reviewed on 2008-07-17 Griffin iTrip Super easy and kids had it rolling in minutes even though I wasn't so sure it would work that fast.
Light and clean looking too. No problems. | | Reviewed on 2008-06-30 Very good but no excelent !! If the iTrip much away from the radio the signal lost and no good sound | | Reviewed on 2008-06-21 very good fm transmitter I've had the itrip for over a year now. I've used it a lot. I've driven cross country both to the east and the west coasts, and it worked perfectly almost everywhere. Some city areas have interference, but it works surprisingly well even in cities. I also used it all across Ireland with excellent results. I went through a few other fm transmitters before finding this one, but they were all very disappointing. Here are some specific things that I like about this one:
1. the signal strength is much, much stronger than any of the other transmitters I tried. I don't have to hold the ipod up to the antenna the whole time, it works fine in the middle between the seats.
2. it can actually be set as low as 87.9 (the specs say it only goes down to 88.1, but that is wrong. This is good, since 87.9 is very rarely used, and I have very good luck with it tuned to that station). There is also an international mode that would allow you to tune it to other stations, but I don't remember what those are at the moment.
3. It is powered by the ipod, so there is no need to plug it in. It also has a plug on the bottom which allows you to charge the ipod in a car while it is transmitting. It doesn't come with the car charger, but I had one for something else and it worked just fine. It's just a standard mini usb port (I think.. there are two different kinds of mini usb ports , and I'm not sure which one this is).
4. It is very small and easy to carry around in the tiny case I carry the ipod in, so it's always with me when I have my ipod.
5. I am able to plug it into my ipod without removing the ipod case. I have one where the bottom is open, but some of the other ipod fm transmitters still did not fit without me removing the case.
Overall I am very pleased with this transmitter. | | Reviewed on 2008-06-10 itrip and usefullness i paid 25$ and some change for this item with free shipping. works great. u will need a charger (more than likely) for this item as it drains the battery on your ipod fairly rapidly especially if you are constantly changing songs or skipping songs on random mode. setting a playlist and leaving your ipod alone you can get 3-5 hours of constant play. i prefer this i-trip better than the ones that already have the car charger affixed to the i-trip as those are a big bundled mess of wires that you always have to carry along with you regardless if you need them. you may want to purchase the one with the charger affixed if the primary use is in a vehicle...otherwise i think you will be satisfied with this. HAVE A BLESSED DAY. | |
