No.4 - Use to apply first coat of drywall joint compound; leaves 1" feathered edge on each side of 2" joint tape to be sanded when wet. No.6 - Use to apply second coat of drywall joint compound; leaves 1" feathered edge on each side of second coat of joint compound to be sanded when wet. No.8 - Use to apply third/top coat of drywall joint compound; leaves 1" of feathered edge on each side of second coat of joint compound to be sanded when wet.
