Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-07-17 Classic stuff Wonderful, quality television, just a good time. Great to sit and savor as you watch. | | Reviewed on 2008-07-06 Classic televison Outstanding television series from the 60's. Extremely well written and each performance a true gem. Each plot is intriguing and well thought out. Surprise endings that make Mr.Serling the very best at what he is now so famous for. Many soon to be famous actors can be seen here. This is vintage TV at its finest. A must have for any collector of classic/sci fi/horror early television. The Definitive Complete Collection is a real find. It is the series in its entirety. You will not be disappointed! | | Reviewed on 2008-07-06 A Brilliant Series I bought "The Twilight Zone--The Complete Definitive Collection" from Amazon last year. Of all the classic television series that I own, I probably take the most pride in "The Twilight Zone". Rod Serling, the series creator and writer of most episodes, not only had an astonishing imagination, his scripts also dared to comment on racism, ageism, enthocentrism, and other societal ills. I am sure that Mr. Serling ran the risk of raising the ire of network executives and sponsors, as this was an era when such social commentary was not particularly appreciated nor expected from prime-time commercial television. I am amazed at the progressive tone of these shows, and even more amazed that those themes are just as relevant today, as they were when first broadcast nearly a half century ago. | | Reviewed on 2008-06-25 Extremely Good The Twilight Zone Complete Definitive Collection is very good, and each episode is remastered. It deserves a 4.5.
I can't give it a 5, however, because it is not definitive. Season 1 does not have captions, and there are some episodes that should have Isolated Scores (That is, you hear only the episode's music), but don't have them. Also a few commentaries aren't that great. Mickey Rooney's commentary in Last Night of a Jockey is the worst and the best. He doesn't say much at all, but gets in a quick argument with another person who is with him. I also think William Shatner should've had a commentary for Nightmare at 10,000 feet.
If you're like me, you'll probably watch 3 seasons worth and then stop, and watch the rest at random times, and almost never use the special features. Anyway, as I said before, this deserves a 4.5. | | Reviewed on 2008-06-24 You unlock this door with the key of imagination........ I think most everyone has really hit all the positives and negatives of the Twilight Zone Definitive collection, but I'll sum them up in one review. First off, it's a great show. Not only that, it has every single episode. You'll even come to appreciate the not-so-good episodes. (Which there are very few of) There are tons of extras also. Each season has an insert to see what episodes are on which discs so you can find your favorite episodes quickly. For the price, it's totally worth buying this. I saw this at Barnes and Noble for $300. I was very close to buying it, but the price was too expenisve. A few months later I went on Amazon just for laughs to see what the price was online. When I saw this on Amazon for such a cheap price, I wanted to buy it right away! Some negatives are that there isn't a "Play-All" button. This is very minor, though, as you'll only need to click a few buttons on your remote every time you watch a new episode.(Which takes less than 5 seconds to do) Also, you have to be careful when you take the DVD's out of the plasic case and not bend them. (As this is bad for DVD's to be bent too far)I figured that you can watch this for 3 days strait and finally finish watching the Twilight Zone on your fourth day of doing nothing but watching Twilight Zone. There is plenty of episodes for you to enjoy for a very long time. Do not get this product confused with the two Twilight Zone remakes. All in all, this is a great product and a great show. Your friends will love this show! | |
