| Product DescriptionMODEL- GUC2015V VENDOR- IO GEAR FEATURES- USB 2.0 External Video Card Add another monitor to your computer or laptop through a USB port! The USB 2.0 External Video Card allows you to connect an extra monitor to your desktop PC or laptop's USB port. The connected monitor can be configured to either clone your primary screen, or extend the Windows desktop allowing visibility of more applications at the same time. The USB 2.0 External Video Card driver used to control the extra screen uses very little computer resource and offers a vast array of screen resolutions and color depths. This ensures that there is little difference in performance between a directly connected screen and a screen connected through the USB 2.0 External Video Card. Includes USB to SXGA Adapter, Quick Start Guide, CD-ROM with User Guide and Installation Software, 4 foot USB 2.0 Cable. -- SPECIFICATIONs ----------------------------------- CONNECTORS - (1) 15-pin VGA (female) (1) USB 2.0 Type mini-B RESOLUTION - 1280 x 1024 REQUIREMENTS - Windows XP/XP Tablet Edition, Windows 2003 Server Available USB 2.0 port (not compatible with USB 1.x) POWER SOURCE - Optional power port Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-04-28 Good Product - Even Vista_but.. Works great! I have used it with a Dell xps1330 Vista so I could have two external monitors mounted. And it works beautifully after downloading the Vista drivers. This is one issue that keeps appearing, if you have ventured away with the Laptop and bring it back. You may have to stop the service and restart it to reactivate the screen. 1.) Start 2.) in the vista quick search type "services", select it from the menu 3.) right click the service click "stop" 4.) count to 10, then right click "start" The screen will come back. | | Reviewed on 2008-02-07 Great when you have no other alternative I've been using dual monitors for years, so when I learned that our company's new workstations were of the mini-me variety with only 1 video out and no slots to add a video card I was a little panicked (once you've gotten used to multiple displays, going back to just one is awful). After much searching I found this product and decided I'd take a gamble on it.
Many months later, I am glad to report that it just plain works. It drives my secondary monitor and is reasonably crisp and perfectly acceptable at a resolution of 1280 X 1024. It's not the most beautiful display, you obviously wouldn't want to game, do image editing, or use at your primary display; but it is just fine for a secondary. I've experienced no driver issues or other strange behavior. It has exceeded my expectations. | | Reviewed on 2008-01-18 my thoughts this product takes up way too much cpu to use it effectively. If you have a quad core processor it might work ok but for a dual core or lower I would stay away. | | Reviewed on 2008-01-13 Does not support wide screen monitors The unit only supports resolutions compatible with standard 4:3 monitors. Does not have resolutions for widescreen. No help from company. Support only open during business week. Drivers are updated, last 12/17/07. Nothing in latest verson that can help. Save your money. | | Reviewed on 2008-01-08 works great - fast and seamless It installed painlessly on a WinXP ThinkPad, and quite to my surprise, is very fast. I'm using it now w/ a web browser on Amazon, and I can't really see much of a difference between it and the laptop's other display. I'm impressed. The only down-side is that it tops out at 1280x1024, while my monitor would have prefered something higher. This device works so well that I'm thinking about buying another one. :-) | |
