| Product DescriptionCritically acclaimed, multi-million selling and still the most respected football title on the planet, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 continues to surpass everything that went before it. Player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo and England star Michael Owen endorse the quality of PES 2008 by using their considerable talents alongside the game. As well as anticipating the new look of the outside package, fans will be eager to know what new changes can be found inside the gameplay of PES 2008. PES 2008 will feature a brand new intelligence system, called Teamvision, that adapts and reacts to players' own gameplay styles, to ensure that the computer controlled opponents are always challenging and forcing the players to think and change their style of play, to avoid being out-thought by the game. It will learn counter attacks that target your weaknesses and look to exploit any repetitive tactics that you use. Defenders react better to danger, closing down the ball and charging at shots, and the goalkeepers will hold shots that are closer to them as well. Teammates will make more intelligent runs into space, and the close control has been sharpened to ensure quick and fluid passing and speedy attacks can be built. - pursuit for realism is evident with improved long and close range ball control, passing and specific moves
- TeamVision AI system for next gen games
- Master league and Cup Modes built up better than ever before
- 1-2 player modes
Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-07-14 Superb game. Far exceeding the expectations. One of the best game software my kids have seen. Usually they get bored with any game software within 10 days of playing. But, I see the same enthusiasm even after weeks of play.
I am thinking this might even help with their real field game - while passing the ball, Strategizing etc. | | Reviewed on 2008-06-19 Awesome Soccer Game I already had Winning Eleven 9 for PS2 and I have to say the Wii version is a great improvement. The controls really are a lot of fun and give you a lot of control. The basic look and feel of the game are the same and anything that has changed I would say has been an improvement. I have component cables for my HD wide-screen TV so the game gives me full 480p wide-screen (unlike the PS2 WE9 which had no wide-screen) which looks great. They took out all those different viewing options which looked cool but were totally impractical (I always used the view that was pulled out the farthest so I could see everything that was happening) and replaced it with 2 views, and I think that was a good choice.
I wish I could have rated this 4 1/2 stars as I have a couple of minor complaints. The main one is that on defense I wish I could directly control a player rather than the sort of "manager" role you play of just instructing everyone how to behave. Sometimes the player with the ball takes off and I want to grab a player and chase him but I have to figure out another way to get the computer-controlled guys to go after him. I wish the American MLS league was included (where's Beckham!?). My last complaint is not really the game's fault - each time I have tried to play an online game there hasn't been anyone available to play against.
Overall, this game is great. Just complicated enough to give you a lot of control but not too much that it isn't fun. Highly recommended. | | Reviewed on 2008-06-19 New way of playing Soccer All my friends are video game Soccer lovers, but I'm the only one with the Wii console, they got PSP II an X box 360 consoles.
It was difficult at the beginning, an all of them we're complaining about the game, but after a few hours all of us could get the big dimension of it.
As always Wii is more focused in the way you play over the graphics and the game can also improve in the direction of shooting, but besides that is a entertainment game with a new way of playing.
| | Reviewed on 2008-06-17 Really, really nice I have to agree with everyone here. The new PES for the Wii is really great. The controls take a few minutes to get used to but the point and click interface is so fluid and makes control of the ball so much better than soccer games before it. Ball physics, as always, are still outstanding in PES.
Defense is the only downside but after you get the feel for how this works, it is tolerable especially in the face of such an incredibly new way of playing offense.
Online play was oddly glitchy and jumpy but it could have just been my Internet connection. I'm still exploring how these settings can be tweaked in the game to optimize online performance.
This game is definitely worth buying for anyone wanting to experience a truly great new way to play soccer on the Wii. Very, VERY nice! | | Reviewed on 2008-06-09 The best football game ever made Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for the Wii is the best football game ever made. There is no doubts regarding that, despite the game shows some flaws. Graphics are average, at best, and it definitely lacks more leagues and teams. However, gaming is all about gameplay and I can't have a better football game in your couch without it. Unlike other football games, you can actually control the tactics used by your team. Off ball running, offside trap, and many other intricate tactics are available in a very intuitive control scheme. Unlike other franchises, Konami is really getting football games in to a higher level of development. Once you try it, there is no way you can return to the older scheme. | |
