| Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-07-25 Very reliable I use the drive for editing with FInal Cut. It has stood up very well. I have another LaCie and it has given me no problems for the past few years. My use is very heavy on the drive 10s of gigs a day, every day, and no problem. The only downside is the size, for me. My 500g LaCie is smaller, and the larger 1tb just hangs over my rack I built for my editing drives.
I heard LaCie started using a cheaper drives, but my 1tb is fairly new and I have not notices any loss in performance. Just pointing this out as one of the editing facilities I work at has stopped using them.
To be fair I think the size is some what normal, but is will not fit in my style of rack with my smaller LaCies.
Drive great, size ok. | | Reviewed on 2008-07-20 Nice disk for Time Machine I intalled it on my MacBook Pro using the Firewire 800 cable, and imediatelly started using Time Machine to make a good, fast and automated backup. The firewire 400 and USB (all 3 cables included) cables also are useful to connect to other machines. Autovolt power supply works world wide. Silent and good speed. | | Reviewed on 2008-07-20 get something else I bought a cheap 75 gig drive a few years ago from comp usa and that works fine when I plug it into a mac and then turn around and plug it into a pc. But when I did it with the lacie, that was it. The pc wouldn't even see it. And then when I went to plug it back into a mac, it wouldn't recognize it any more. Now I have a 900+ gigs of footage that I need to make my demo reel t get jobs, stuck on the drive. And no money to pay someone to get it off. LACIE sucks. I should've learned from my job when one crashed, but thought it was just my co-worker messing it up. She probably did, but Lacie still sucks, get something else or you just might regret it. | | Reviewed on 2008-07-12 LaCie LaCie LaCie Here's a review for the 1 TB LaCie Big Disk Extreme+ External HDD after using it for a while:
Pros:
* Very solid and strong design
* No sound/noise what so ever, unlike older models (I own a 600 GB Big Disk)
* Very fast
* Multiple interfaces
* On/Off/Auto button
Cons:
* A little pricey
Finally, LaCie has proven again that they are the industry leader in manufacturing external HDD, I have 3 LaCies and they're all running smoothly and perfectly. If you need a solid reliable HDD to count on, LaCie should be your choice if you're okay with the extra $$$. | | Reviewed on 2008-07-12 LaCie 1 TB hard drive This is the best and most reliable external hard drive I have ever owned. I use this on my MacBook Pro and it runs like clockwork. Also use it with Time Machine to back up my entire Mac hard drive. It's quiet and looks great sitting on my desktop. High recommend! | |
