| Product DescriptionThe ThinkPad and Lenovo 90W Slim AC/DC Combo Adapter supplies power to your ThinkPad and Lenovo 3000 notebooks and simultaneously recharges the system battery whenever it is plugged into a standard AC wall outlet or the DC outlets available in airplanes and automobiles. This adapter gives you the flexibility to use your ThinkPad or Lenovo 3000 notebook longer and in more places. It is Lenovo's thinnest power adapter yet,so it tucks easily into your carrying case for travel. Make this adapter the only one you take on the road! No need to carry a bag full of chargers when you can use the AC/DC Combo Adapter to power your notebook, cell phone, and PDA. An optional dual charging cable allows you to attach the adapter to both your notebook and a peripheral device simultaneously. Select from a range of optional peripheral charging tips compatible with most popular cell phones and other devices. Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-07-02 Works as advertised, but does get hot In normal use as an AC adapter, this unit gets quite warm to the touch. When using it as a DC adapter (in a car) the cigarette lighter connector got very hot and the spring-loaded tip was hot enough to leave a blister.
I seems that the main unit while thin could get less "wide." It's much wider than the standard 90W adapter and longer too. As others have mentioned, the cable connecting it to the laptop is thick and bulky, hard to fold back up and doesn't fit well in the case. One plus is the adapter tips which allows it to charge the T/X/A30/40 series with one and the 60 series with the other. | | Reviewed on 2008-06-24 A great product that really works! Purchased this item from ANTOnline tried it in my house, my car and on board an airplane and it worked 100% as advertised! very slim and it weights less the normal chargers never heats up even after hours of charging tried it on a ThinkPad's T61+R61+X60+R40 + Lenovo 3000 N100 without a single problem, a high quality product that I really recommend. | | Reviewed on 2008-05-28 Cannot Charge 2 Devices At Same Time With Base Configuration I got this device so that I could charge my Lenovo X60S laptop, and cell phone on the road. I was also interested since the device comes in a carrying bag. I think I had higher hopes than Lenovo delivered.
First, there is only limited cable management in the device. As noted, the laptop cable is quite thick and long. It might have been better if the cable naturally wrapped around the device. As it is, you have to cram all the items in to the carrying case, and I'm sure they'll get tangled. Another nice option would be a cable that retracts inside the device, or the case somehow designed to unclutter the cables.
Also the device is not heavy, but somehow I wanted it to be very lightweight. A very light charger for instance is the one for the Nokia N82 cell phone. The device is very thin though.
Apparently in order to simultaneously charge your laptop and another device (like a phone or PDA), you need an optional cable. I bought the main unit with 2 additional charging tips, I think Lenovo could throw in this "optional" cable. I don't even know where to find this cable. As it is, the base configuration of the device will only charge one item at atime. I was very surprised this was the case since I ordered the optional power tips. I ordered the device directly from Lenovo, and I don't remember seeing this optional cable that facilitates simultaneous device charging.
In conclusion, this is not a bad unit. I think I just wanted it to be great, and its just ok so far. | | Reviewed on 2008-05-18 Super-thin, and works on planes too Prior to the introduction of this unit in January 2008, Lenovo had a very bulky power supply that would work on AC/Planes/Cars. This unit is exceptionally thin, thinner than the thinist part of the Lenovo X60/61s. With its AC cord and the cord that plugs into the PC, it weighs 14 oz. It comes with 3 tips for different Lenovo laptops. The only thing I wish they had done differently is that cord to the laoptop is thicker (heavier) than it should be (thicker than the cord that is found on the standard non-combo adapter). Compared to the IGo, which is not as wide as this new adapter, but at least twice as thick, this unit is much better. Compared to the thin Kensington, the unit is about the same thickness, but a bit smaller in other dimensions, does not get hot, and has a much longer cord to connect to the AC socket (about three feet), so it is much easier to use in hotel rooms where the Kensington is often hard to plug in. In short, the best combo adapter for your Lenovo computer on the market.
