Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-07-22 A Clinic in Self-Immolation I've set up 3 Linksys wireless adapters now -- two of these and one Linksys WPC54GS Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with SpeedBooster to work with my Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster. The first one of these and the Notebook Adapter had serious issues in handshaking with the router and required significant time on the phone with Linksys to set up, and I'm still not completely happy with their functionality.
Surprisingly, this second WMP54G that I installed had no issues whatsoever, and setup was a breeze. Too bad it only lasted 3 weeks before "frying" itself.
Am waiting now on a replacement from Linksys. | | Reviewed on 2008-05-29 Easy to setup Was a little concerned that I would be connecting to my D-LINK 614+ router but followed directions and was up and running in minutes, so far so good. | | Reviewed on 2008-05-12 Great product and supplier The best price, brand new product, and total satisfaction! What more can I say? | | Reviewed on 2008-04-27 Somewhat functional Ever since I bought adapter, I've had problems with it. Oh, it installed fine for me, but that's about it...
I predominately use the internet for online gaming, and this adapter just doesn't cut it. No matter how well Linksys says you're connected, you cannot play an online game without ridiculous lag spikes (every 20 seconds or so).
Internet browsing on this adapter isn't much better... Me and my roommates have our own network set up, and the router I'm connecting to is one very thin wall away, and yet internet web browsing only works well in short spurts (you have to click "repair" on your network connections every few minutes or so... and no, configuring a static IP does not work).
Also, after about 3 months of use, the antenna on the adapter inexplicably just came loose and fell off... so ridiculous.
I give this product 2 stars instead of 1, because it might actually be a practical product for a person who simply wants to casually browse the internet every once in a while for e-mail and such. Everyone else should steer clear.
| | Reviewed on 2008-04-20 the right choice for me This adapter installed very quickly without incident. It was also a good time to clean the dust out of the insides of my Dell (not as much as I expected). Started up and was on my way in mere minutes. I have a Linksys router and configuration couldn't be simpler! There's an easy connect feature button that was immpossible to screw up. I've seen some of the negative reviews, but all I can say is that it was exactly what I was looking for. | |
