| Product DescriptionMODEL- 32839 VENDOR- LUCASARTS FEATURES- StarWars Battlefront II PSP Star Wars Battlefront II improves upon the original game's single- player experience with open-ended, mission-based objectives inspired from all six Star Wars films. The compelling storyline spans more than 12 new locations, many from Episode III, including volcanic Mustafar and the space battle above Coruscant. All-new classic movie moments complete the Star Wars Battlefront II experience, as you battle within the interior of the Death Star and visit Princess Leia's blockade runner, the Tantive IV, as seen at the beginning of Episode IV A New Hope. In addition, at certain key moments within the battles, you can feel the Force as a Jedi. For the first time ever, Star Wars Battlefront II players can engage in space combat and, during the same battle, board enemy ships to attack from within. Starting on foot inside a capital ship, players can enter the spacecraft of their choice and travel into space to dogfight with the rival faction. From there, they can dock within the enemy s capital ship, overtake the ship s command posts, man its turrets to disable its shields and destroy it from within! Or, they can simply stay inside their own capital ship and defend it from attacks and enemy fire. The choice is theirs. Revamped single-player experience includes smarter AI enemies and allies, plus a greater emphasis on story told through open-ended mission-based objectives. New space battles allow you to dogfight in X-wings, TIE fighters, Jedi starfighters and several other starcraft, or fight it out on foot aboard an enemy capital ship. Special opportunities throughout the game for players to wield a lightsaber and use their favorite Force powers as a Jedi. More than 16 new battlefronts on land and in space, including many from Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith such as Utapau, Mustafar and the space battle above Coruscant. All-new classic trilogy locations including the Death Star interior, classic space battles and the fight aboard the Tantive IV, Princess Leia s blockade runner seen at the beginning of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Online multiplayer action for up to 64 players (plus AI units). -- SPECIFICATIONs --------------------------------------- ESRB Rating : T for Teen Genre/Category : Shooter System : Playstation Portable Number of Players : 1 ~ 64 On-Line Compatible: No www.lucasarts.com
Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-06-28 A failed PS2 port. But is that bad? Not necessarily. The main downside of the game is that it's just not as meaty as it's PS2 predecessor. I have found that people who have played the original, and liked it, will find the the game lacking without the dual analogs and a few of the maps hacked off. Another thing that I found a tad disappointed were the space battles. Now, the PS2 predecessor space battles still had some kinks, but this version completely took out the ability to sabotage everything from the inside. The only thing left is to fly around in circles bombing the ship constantly.
Seriously?
Now I'm not going to nitpick. This is a very solid game. I always find myself coming back to this when I'm not playing any certain games, playing with a friend, or just when I have nothing to do. The replay value is simply fantastic. The class system is unrivaled, and the depth and strategy you can get from one little package makes me grin from ear to ear.
Graphics - 9/10
Almost on par to the PS2 predecessor. Some fog and bland textures bring it down, though.
Sound - 10/10
It's hard to make a Star Wars game sound bad. Blaster shots, explosions, music, grunts, Wookie roars (ahem), it's got it all.
Gameplay - 7/10
The instant action mode is the tried and true hella fun Battlefront we all know. The Galactic Conquest is lacking, and the Challenges feel thrown in.
Depth - 8/10
This is a game you'll keep coming back too. Lack of online is a problem. But as I said before, some more maps would be nice.
Overall - 7.5/10
A failed PS2 port, which manages to keep the Battlefront name. Solid gameplay keeps this UMD in your PSP. I would recommend this to everyone. | | Reviewed on 2008-06-15 A good buy Although this game lacks a story or campaign, I found myself having a lot of fun with it. The controls take some getting used, but when you do, the game is a blast! However, if you are not a star wars fan, then I would not recomend this game because of the lack of story and and campaign. But the best way to find out is to try it yourself! | | Reviewed on 2008-06-02 gift for son I can not speak on the game but I can say it arrived on time. My son age 10 likes it. | | Reviewed on 2008-02-15 Good game Bought this game for our son and he loves it. considering he is an avid star wars fan...he enjoys playing it and has lot's of fun doing so. | | Reviewed on 2008-01-29 disappointing its a good game, but its nothing like the ps2 version. first of all theres no online multiplayer, thats the only reason i got it. and also it is missing alot of the levels from the original version. finally the layout of the psp makes it awkward and difficult to aim. | |
