Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-04-01 Bad Customer Service I spend $30 returning the scanner. The scanner won't scan image of document only to Word File. Then some of the images does not scan too well. Emailed Customer Service. Took them FIVE days just to ask me what my problem was. Got so FRUSTRATED returned the product. Never have to return an Electronic product , so my husband threw away box. End up having to spend $30 just repacking and reshipping. Save the boxes! Don't think I will buy from unknown maker. Stick to HP's or well known brand! | | Reviewed on 2008-03-15 scanner ok, software not I have a Microtek scanner and just downloaded the latest drivers. It turns out Microtek wants a program called Scan Finder to load at every start-up, and there is no way to disable this. The product works satisfactorily, but for my money, I will purchase something else. Something that doesn't create such a nuisance, and isn't so invasive. | | Reviewed on 2007-12-17 Microtek ScanMaker 5950 Have purchased multiple ScanMaker 5950 units to use for work and will do so again as needed. Easy to use, pretty much plug and play and scanning is very fast when you have multiple documents to work with at once. | | Reviewed on 2007-10-22 great for the money We just bought a second one, after the first one died after a household move and some really heavy use. Tried other scanners with document feeders that were more expensive and slower! So went back to the same Microtek model that we knew and loved. Good speed for the money (about 6 ppm, b&w, 200dpi) and the image quality is as good as our other scanners. Sometimes we have to scan a page just to get the light warmed up, but hey, it works great for the money. We need to scan many multipage documents at a time and use Adobe Acrobat with the scanner software, and it's very simple and intuitive to get good scans of even handwritten forms. | | Reviewed on 2007-09-25 Cheap scanner that works OK Bottom line, it's a cheap scanner that gets the job done, if you are willing to play with it a little bit. It took me a while to figure out how to get it to do a simple task - scan multiple page documents into a single PDF file. The software makes this a bit difficult (you have to "scan to email" and then choose a medium-high dpi setting). The hardware is acceptable, for the $55.00 I paid for it on eBay. When I'm rich I'll buy a $1,000 document scanner, but until that time, I'm doing OK with scanners like this one. | |
