Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-06-30 Great product but can be better Great product but can be better
For me the idea is perfect because most new computers have a lot of power and many people can be working in the same computer almost if each of them has the power of the computer for each one. The performance is great and the save of money better. I put the system in a computer with an Intel quad core, 2 GB RAM and 80 GB HDD, and all the users are surprised with the speed. But the thinks that have to be better are:
1. We can not use skype because there is no jack for the microphone.
2. We need to move to the computer to put a USB device.
3. Max resolution for monitor is 1024x768, and Google-earth is too slow.
4. The initial installation was very hard, it take me a lot of time for some problems
5. The support is too bad.
| | Reviewed on 2008-03-26 Worked well for in-house classes We needed to provide computers for 4 in-house class. We didn't have them available but we did have a 3gh Dell with 3gb of ram. It did require me to take 3 runs at installation of the software to get it installed and functioning. Also the software didn't set the Multi-User service to automatic and I had to manually change the service. Afterwords however we had 7 people running one computer without problems. Everyone on one computer made it easier to setup the class material also.
PS: Read the requirements - not Vista supported although they claim it will be supported. Didn't affect me. | | Reviewed on 2007-07-23 Functionality beyond beleif For those searching the way to maximize productivity (by using computers) and lowering hardware and software costs: This is the product! | | Reviewed on 2007-06-28 Easy to Setup The xtenda x300 is easy to setup and configure. It works simply with os. Just wished it would allow users to be in other locations on the network rather than just 16 feet away. Recommend using at home and at the office. | | Reviewed on 2007-06-26 close, but needs some help still I bought this for our office. It seemed like a great way to avoid having to buy new computers for the other 2 people that work with me. Our first problem is that the cable that connects my computer to the boxes can only be 15 feet long. A lot of product descriptions say it can go further, but the instructions in the box say they can't guarantee any performance longer than 15 feet. I assumed that meant if we were doing some kind of video gaming, which we don't do in the office, but it actually applies to just having the screen show up. The three of us can just sit there and do absolutely nothing and the monitors connected to the boxes will flash on and off at random, they also have wavy lines that move up and down the screens. I called tech support and found out that they only support screens up to 17 inches. And not the nicer flat screens, only the old box monitors. I didn't know you could even buy a 17 inch old monitor like that anymore. It seems ridiculous that they can't support any monitor made in the last 5 years. There was also an issue with the keyboard and mouse for each of the boxes. the only accept keyboards and mice that have the old PS/2 connection. I can't even find a place that still carries keyboards like that. Everything is USB now and has been for quite a while. This product may be great for schools who only have access to outdated computers and hardware, but for anyone who has bought anything new in the last 5 years, this product won't work with any of it yet. It is a great concept, they just need to catch up with what is on the market today. | |
