| Product DescriptionManhunt 2 creates a horrifying new environment that tests your nerve and your skill. An experiment at a secret research facility has gone catastrophically wrong. Daniel is sent to the Dixmor Asylum, where six years later a freakish storm of lightning hits the power. Leaving it dark and haunting. Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper are the only surviving subjects. They have one chance to take back their lives and they're taking it. Anyone who stands in their way is a dead man. Players can take control of Leo Kasper in the new Flashback Mode - Unusual new weapons, from glass shards and syringes to pens
- Execute your kills in 3 deadly threats - Hasty, Violent and Gruesome
- New environmental kills - Push an enemy face-first into a live fuse box, use telephone cords to strangle or drown an enemy in a toilet
- Use ambient sounds to your advantage - Let loud noises cover your trail, and learn to regulate breathing so you aren't heard in absolute silence
- Lamb can climb and crawl -- two things James Earl Cash couldn't do in the original
Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-06-22 Manhunt 2 A Walk Through LifeManhunt two is no way near as good as the first one it's an average game and what spoils it is the executions. On the first one you could see them clearly but on Manhunt 2 the kills are all distorted. At the end of each level you do not get a rating like you did on the first one this takes some of the thrill out of the game, I was anticipating a much better sequel. | | Reviewed on 2008-05-28 better than the first! so my 360 finally gave me the dredded red ring of death and as i'm waiting for it to get repaired, i have my trusty ps2 to keep me busy. right now i'm re-playing manhunt 2.
i love it.
much better than the first installment.
i know that i'm definitely in the minority here and that's fine, but here are my reasons:
1. the story. daniel lamb has escaped from a mental institution, and is trying to piece together his life and his reality. this subject matter makes me want to keep playing until the end in order to find out what happens. in the first manhunt, even though i played it through to the end, i really couldn't care less about the character james earl jones- errr, i mean cash.
2. i LOVE the filters!!!! i agree that censorship sucks, but i have to give rockstar some props here: they took the dreaded AO rating and dealt with it in the most creative way possible. many people say, that you cannot see anything when a kill happens- i say, if you are having trouble figuring out what is going on, you are blind! the filters ADD to the gruesome violence as it puts you in lambs mind as the killings are taking place. this is how he's seeing the violence in his mind! imo, i've seen unedited/unfiltered manhunt 2 kills on youtube, and i gotta say, that they don't look nearly as good.
3. area specific kills are genius! and also jumping through the air from on top of a roof or trash can with a crowbar in hand and landing right on top of a specific enemy is totally rewarding to see!
4. no frustrating moments. i'm re-playing the game on "insane" difficulty, and while harder than i remember manhunt 2 being, it is still a pleasure to play. i remember parts of manhunt 1 where there was a gigantic learning curve simply because of spawn points, bad a.i., or bad level design. manhunt 2 has none of these problems.
i know that a lot of people are probably going to write hate letters, or at least say that they feel differently, and as i said before, that's fine. but really read what i'm saying, and take another look at the game before you judge.
| | Reviewed on 2008-04-29 FUN! I've been playing this game for a couple of days now, I'm almost finished, while waiting for gta4, and I must say I am happy. I am having so much fun! Maybe the first "Manhunt" had a better story (more paranoia and panic), but this one is easier to play. PS2 graphics are never again going to impress us, but I still find the environments very creepy and nice, and the characters look good. The level design is good, and varied (and twisted), and I know lots of people complain about the gun-missions, but I think they're great!
All in all a fun ride.
Oh, and for the best experience: Play alone at night... | | Reviewed on 2008-04-29 Hitman is better I bought this game for my fiance for Christmas because we love playing Hitman. The graphics are disappointing and there is a special effect that fuzzes out the screen with kind of a scratching sound...very distracting. I would recommend the Hitman Trilogy over this game. Don't buy it. | | Reviewed on 2008-04-11 I do not recommend this game The first game I bought from Rockstar was Bully, which I really loved, so I assumed Manhunt 2 would be of the same caliber. Sadly, Manhunt 2 has issues that make it very difficult to play:
* The controls are complicated: the game uses every button of the PS2 for routine tasks making it very difficult to learn the key combinations necessary to succeed. To confuse things even more, some buttons perform different tasks in different settings to the point where I said, Wow! That was coolnow how did I do that? several times.
* Documentation is lacking: There are very good prompts within the game to tell you what to do and when, but if you want more details you get no help from the game insert and no help from the Rockstar web site. You have little context to begin and play and, at least for me, its not fun to play when I dont understand why Im playing.
* The game is annoyingly difficult: I expect games to be a bit more forgiving as I learn the controls, but Manhunt 2 gives no such latitude. It also selectively saves the game, so your opportunities to save/start over are limited, which forces you to repeat menial tasks a LOT. Trial-and-error gaming doesnt appeal to me and I have never been a fan of the game over type games, which is what Manhunt is.
I was excited about this game because of the publisher and the story line, but the execution is a huge disappointment. I have not enjoyed Manhunt 2.
