Terrible
When I first got the camera it looked nice, but i later found out that that was all. There are lines going up and down in the photos and the videos turn out pink (no joke). Samsung realy let me down this time. |  | Reviewed on 2008-07-08
Average performance, some interesting bugs
You may consider spending your money on somehting else, just got this camera and it's below my expectations. Here's what marketing tricks may fool you with.
Feels a bit cheap, first thing. If you want a stilish camera, try a Casio.
Here's what I found.
On manual mode, you can only select two aperture settings at an given focal length: 2.8 can only be changed to 7, 3.7 only to 9.1 etc (zoom never stops at standard 3.5 or 5.6 as professional standards refer to, pretend you didn't notice that). So that's not a "full manual" folks.
Next, any ISO higher that 400 grains your pics beyond decency (ISO 800 may help in low light, at the cost of loosing much detail, but 1600 is a joke).
Filiming capabilities: 30 fps only works with 640. You you want the advertized 800, that's only 20 fps and it shows. Plus, zooming while filming leaves you without sound (?!) - guess they forgot to mention that. This is ony annoying thing.

Great camera
I got bored of Canon SD series (I've been buying models in that series for many years now) and so decided to venture to Samsung. I particularly liked this model because:
- Good price
- Has OPTICAL image stabilization
- Good low light capability
- Video capability
- Can zoom while taking videos
The camera performs like a champ. Excellent low-light shots and great video clips. Their dual mode (electronic + optical image stabilization) can take pictures without flash in most indoor settings which is awesome as flash ruins the picture and can be distracting.
The printed manual is useless but the camera has a great electronic tutorial, so it's not a big deal. Overall, very happy with the camera. | |
