Reviewed on 2008-03-08Works great in G4 Mac. Bought this to replace a broken "Sweet Multiport" kit I had in my Power Mac G4 MDD. Surprisingly, it worked great without having to install any drivers. Will likely not fit in a G4 QuickSilver (because the front optical bay door is tiny), but should fit in a G3 B&W or G4 Graphite if you take the optical or zip drive out. The advantage to the G4 MDD is it has a full size (5 1/4") secondary optical bay, and installing it there worked fine. A bit snug when plugging things in, but good enough. Be careful when routing the internal cabling before you close the door on the G3/G4.
Reviewed on 2008-02-17Computer front Bay hub These USB/1394 front bay hubs are well made and provide easy access to needed ports rather than to have to search for them behind the computer. They are made so they will fit either a 5.5 bay or a 3.5 bay front slot. These are perfect for mid and full tower builders that have lots of room in the front slots. Remember, they are sold as an add on. You have to have a place to plug in the inside cables. Buy an internal dual USB/1394 card that accepts the cables. The frames are made of molded plastic, but are quite durable. I have two of these units, one for the speed demon video PC and one for the office PC. Makes swaping files real easy with jump drives and video cam in/output.
