Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2007-09-22 [2.5] no vegas feel from this warrior Don't be misled by the title. I love fight films that take place in Vegas, such as Deadly Bet, To Be The Best and Final Impact, to name a few. Somehow, the casinos, clubs and bright lights makes the fight setting so much more colorful and alive. I was hoping for something a little similar with Las Vegas Warrior, but aside from a few seconds of air shots of the city at the beginning of the film, there just is no Vegas.
At the start of the film, it was pretty obvious this was a very independent production. That being said, this wasn't as bad as one might think for such an independent film. The acting wasn't too shabby and camera quality has seen worse times. There is some fight action, but that's where it began to fall apart for me. The fight locales took place in cemented rooms with a small circled audience standing. The camera zoomed in too close for some of the fights, and there seemed to be no true presence of choreography.
The story focuses mainly around a reporter named Chase, who's assignment is to investigate these illegal underground fights. When she discovers one of the fighters, Suk Nam, has murdered another, her investigation gets too deep. It's a pretty thin plot overall that is dragged out way too long, and not enough action to sustain everything in between. I felt that when fight scenes were featured, they still fell second to the investigating. I did enjoy the end of the film however, as it became clear that Suk Nam was not a murderer, but just in too deep with the wrong people. He is definetly emotionally struggling, and it all comes down to a choice of life or death he must make in the end.
Overall, I can't say there is too much going for this film. While it is an ok production and someone took the time to put some emoiton into a character, everything else kind of fades away. No Vegas, and no excellent fight action - two biggest things I wanted out of this. | | Reviewed on 2005-08-16 My Son I really enjoyed watching this movie as my son is one of the fighters in the show. I was told that it had been released but the name had been changed since the filming. If you like this type of movie then certainly I say get it.
