Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-07-01 One Star-Spoilers Follow It could have been a good movie. It had a good cast Diane Keaton, Mandy Moore, Lauren Graham and Stephen Collins about a domineering mother and her daughters specifically her youngest daughter Mandy Moore who's saddled with the horrible name...Millie who's basically a pushover it was classifed as a chick flict or a romantic comedy. Yet it was awful. The lenghts that the mother goes to in order find a husband she thinks is perfect for her daughter was horrible. Really on-line dating and screening dates to find the perfect man? That's a really horrible thing to do. Unfortunately, any sympathy you would have for Millie goes out the window as she dates two guys at same time, sleeping with both guys and even getting engaged with one while thinking about moving in with the other. I'm suppose to be rooting for Millie because she's cute and her mother's a pain? I don't think so. If you don't think that's painful enough all of the sexual jokes are. Skip this movie believe I wish I had.
| | Reviewed on 2008-06-24 What a Shame I bought the movie because Lauren Graham was in it and I knew what a great comedian and singer she is. Instead I got Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore, neither of which gave a very stellar performance.
I hope in the not too distant future Lauren Graham will be STARRING in some good movies. | | Reviewed on 2008-06-10 Uninteresting and repetitive The movie is about an overbearing meddling mother who decided to play a match maker for her youngest daughter.
Diane Keaton, who happens to be a talent actress, horribly overacts here and turns into a cliche. There are the same cake in the face, bad dating prospects, annoying children, seen in many other movies. This is dull and forgettable. | | Reviewed on 2008-04-18 Horrid script... Okay, there are so many things wrong with this movie, that it could take all day to write this review. I'd like to preface my statements with no, I am not too serious and close-minded, and I do enjoy the occasional romantic comedy chick flick so long as it isn't ridiculously stupid. Okay, so, first of all, there are so many things that don't even make sense about this. There is a point where the three sisters and the mom are singing a song for a group of people. The mom loses her voice and asks her daughter to take the soprano lead. The daughter blows up and says, "You're doing it again!" and blah blah blah. Doing what? The blow-up that followed continued to make no sense. The three sisters decide that since mom is clearly getting sick (hence, the lost voice) that she must stay with one of them. Excuse me? She's 60 years old and quite able-bodied, not 90!! So how do they decide who's going to take her? Rock, paper, scissors...ooh creative. I could go on, but I just hope you can see how ridiculous this is. It's amazing what Hollywood is willing to back financially these days. And yes, there is so much overacting you'll want to shoot yourself. The only reason I can guess is that Diane Keaton knew this script was a stinker and was doing all she could to force herself to speak those horrid lines. Well, at least she got a paycheck. | | Reviewed on 2008-04-06 Not-so-good. I'd have to agree with the general review about this film. The movie is quite badly done. The movie is about the conflict between a domineering mother and a pushover daughter. Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore both over-act and gets down right annoying to watch. And as mentioned in other reviews, it seems as though the film tries to downplay the fact that Mandy Moore's character is two-timing two men. Millie (Mandy) does get pushed around by her mother and we are made to feel bad for her but it still doesn't justify the fact that she cheats on her men.
I did enjoy Diane Keaton's wardrobe and actually Mandy Moore's as well for that matter. Lauren Graham and Piper Perabo are quite charming as Mandy's sisters but all in all, I would not recommend this movie to anyone. Two stars - a generous rating. | |
