Customer ReviewsReviewed on 2008-07-18 A great buy for any Spyro fan! I absolutely love, and I mean LOVE, this game. Yes, I've played all the original Spyro games, and I've got to say, this is defiantely a great addition to the Spyro collection. Sure, it's different than all the others, but guess what?: THINGS CHANGE. And sure, it's easy to beat after a while, but it's something that'll keep you interested. Even though there aren't any mini games (which I found annoying after a while) and it's mostly combat, it still keeps you interested, unlike A Hero's Tail, which I got bored of. And the voice overs are AWESOME! I like how they added more attitude and personality into the characters. I absolutely love Sparks's attitude :D He keeps the mood upbeat by adding something humorous or sarcastic into the scene, and always puts his 2 cents in. The game also teaches you what to do with the training with the elders. If you don't listen to this review and don't wanna spend the money to buy this game, at least rent it! | | Reviewed on 2008-07-12 Are you kidding me?! I've been playing the Spyro games for a long time, ever since the first game (Spyro The Dragon) was released for Playstation. After playing the trilogy while growing up on the Playstation One, I than awaited for Insomniac to make some new Spyro Gems for the Playstation Two.
How disturbing this series has become since than. Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly and Spyro: A Hero's Tail were alright, although the first one of this whole new series did have a bunch of clichés, and the second one was frustrating, this game is a failure.
What have they done to you Spyro? Now you are "Spyro Baggins," going off on your new little quest, which is totally wrong. They re-ripped, re-burned the old, awesome little spit of flame from the original series and made this cheap-skate to earn some cash. Spyro is now a disturbing little dragon and sparks is absolutely stupid. Why are they trying to input famous voice-actors into this game? Its not working. A while back, after playing this game I got rid of it. For anybody who is new to Spyro, trust me, don't play this game, or the one after this (Eternal Night). Rather try to find a copy of the first game, Spyro The Dragon, and play it.
And even if they are continuing on with this "new," Spyro, especially with the new Spyro game coming out this year, and the movie, Spyro isn't going to get any better, but the game play might. Lets hope they don't stick with the boxed-in world in this game. What a disappointment. | | Reviewed on 2008-06-20 What to say? I do not yet have this game but reading the reviews it sounds exactly like the second game in the Legend of Spyro series. I am mainly reviewing to say that my opinion of Enter the Dragon hasn't changed at all... give Insomniac the reigns to the Spyro series because they did it better. The original Spyro games (for the PS) are much better. I loved Spyro because of the collecting of gems, eggs and other items not for the fighting and that is exactly what Universal or whoever is making the games now has done is made into a long, continous, and therefore boring battle. All I can say is don't waste your money on the Spyro games for PS2, PS3 or the Wii. | | Reviewed on 2008-05-10 A New beginning indeed. Okay, here is what I have to say about the game. Sure, a lot of people may not agree with me, but the truth of the matter is, well, I LOVED this game. It rates third best in all the Spyro games I've played (part 2 being the best and part 1 being the runner up). This game told a spectacular story, which in itself earns a major point from me. I loved the character designs and the all-star cast of voices. Sparx having a voice was a nice touch (although sometimes David Spade's witty quips can come off as annoying more than funny), and I absolutely adored the way Spyro and Cynder were done. They were nicely created. This new story ditches the kiddish, immature brazen Spyro of the past (which I loved) and makes him more mature, serious, innocent, and brave (which I really, really love). On the down side, the game doesn't have much replay value, as the sidequests are gone, as well as the "find all the gems in the game" feature. But that didn't stop me from loving the level designs, the engrossing story, and the awesome personalities of each character. The game was also way too short, but the way it was created does make up for it. I have yet to play the second installment, and I am just chomping at the bit for the third installment (not to mention the movie coming out). All in all, I'd say that the developers are taking Spyro in a fresh, new direction. Stuff it, haters! This game rocks, and I only hope the second trilogy will give us all more of the same. | | Reviewed on 2008-01-10 Spyro...Super Easy To Beat!!!! This game, Spyro a New Beginning, was way too easy to win. Not at all like any of the other Spyro games. The voices were cool and the graphics were very good. My 9 year old daughter thinks it was really good, but too easy to beat also. She also agrees that it was too different from the other games. She has replayed it a bunch of times, so it must be some kind of fun. We both enjoyed playing it through the first time. I wish they would make a Spyro game the old fashioned Spyro way!! | |
