Reviewed on 2008-06-02 GREAT TWO DISC DVD I LOVE THE WRESTLEMANIA 23 DVS BUT WHY DID THEY REALEASE A 2 DISC SET AND A 3 DISC SET. I AM SHORE LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE WONDERING THE SAME THING.

Reviewed on 2008-05-19 match of a lifetime and being their made it that much better wrestlemania 23 was a good wrestlemania however it only had one match stole the show. match 1. 8 man money in the bank match this was the best money in the bank match yet. alot of sick moves and alot of blood. jeff hardy creates another wrestlemania moment and cm punk shows that he can wrestle with the stars of the wwe. this match had alot of comedy in it as well for example the kennedy hornswoggle incident. the ending did not dissapoint either and overall it was a good match. 4/5 match 2. great kahli vs kane this was a horrible filler and a huge waste of time. The crowd was booing this match from the begining. 1/5 match 3. us title chris benoit(c) vs MVP wow this match was alot better than expected. benoit(rip) is a lights out wrestler and mvp holds his own in this match. very good technical battle with both men getting their moves in. the match was a little slow and longer than it had to be. the ending was good though. 3/5 match 4.world title match batista(c) vs undertaker why the hell was this not the main event. This match was awesome. These two are two great wrestlers and deserve the main event. the match was the best singles match I may have ever seen. Taker brings out the best in batista and lets not forget taker not bad himself. the match never slowed down and these two did stuff that big men never do. the arena stood still when batista hit the batista bomb and exploded when taker kicked out. the ending was fantastic and help make this match, match of the year. 5/5 match 5. ecw originals vs the new breed boring filler. I thought that this match was gonna be alot more hardcore than it was. the match was also very predictable.2/5 match 6. battle of the billionares hair vs hair match bobby lashley vs umaga. special referee stone cold austin this match lived up to the hype. bobby lashley was in top form and so was umaga. the funny thing was the crowd cheered more when austin came in then when anyone else came in that night. the match was a little slow but the ending was terrific. the donald taking out mcmahon was also funny. the after math which including the shaving of the head was funny. overall this was a good match. 3.5/5 match 7. womens title melina(c) vs ashley horrible match.skip it.0/5 match 8. main event wwe title cena(c) vs shawn michaels It was pretty funny seeing the crowd boo cena as he walked in however lets talk about the match. The match was really slow and didn't start to pick up till about 20 minutes in. the last 10 minutes make the match. thier must've been 10 straight reverses and alot of kickouts. the people were on their feet when john had shawn in the stfu and they were screaming. the ending really hurt the match because the wrong man won.3.5/5 wrestlemania had one match I could watch over and over again and a few matches that did not deserve to be here all in all good wrestlemania. 8/10

Reviewed on 2008-02-08 Wrestlemania 23 Wrestlemania is the greatest in Sports Entertainment. I had to buy this DVD so that I could see all the great matches. The Batista vs Undertaker match was just incredible. Can't wait to see Wrestlemania 24 now that WWE has gone HD. Wonder if it will be sold in Blu-Ray?

Reviewed on 2007-10-03 20 Years Later: WrestleMania Returns To Detroit. WrestleMania 23 was not an event that I was expecting to see due to my fallout with wrestling over the few years. The event itself has somewhat lost it's luster over the years. But when I heard that Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker were in the main event title matches, even I could not resist. Although, I found out that they are wrestling John Cena and Batista, a little concern occurred for me but here we go. Money In the Bank Ladder Match: Jeff Hardy vs Mr. Kennedy vs CM Punk vs Edge vs Randy Orton vs King Booker vs Finlay vs Matt Hardy. I knew most of these wrestlers so I was not lost here. This was a solid opener but I felt that the last two ladder matches were a little better. Mainly because I felt that there were too many people in this match but it was still good and the highlight was Jeff Hardy's fall on Edge that even I felt it. Kane vs The Great Khali. One question: Who booked this match? Kane is a decent wrestler but he can not carry someone as bad as Khali. The only somewhat good moment was the cool bodyslam by Kane, other than that nothing good here. United States Champion Chris Benoit vs M.V.P. Benoit carried this match to make it a very solid match but I think that most people, including me, were surprised how good M.V.P did. I would have preferred a little more time to the match, like an extra 10 minutes, but a good not great match. World Heavyweight Champion Batista vs The Undertaker. I do not understand why this match is not the main event considering Undertaker won the Rumble and should be in the last match of this event. Anyways, I thought that this was the best match on the card. A great concept for the match which was Taker's Undefeated Streak against Batista's Title Reign. The match was a pretty good sprint from the opening bell as you saw the crowd into it every step of the way. Batista is not a great wrestler but when someone can carry him, like Taker did here, he can look good. Alot better than what some of the people said it was. Very exciting with a justified ending. ECW Originals vs The New Breed. I was disappointed with this match as it was not under hardcore rules (which is what ECW was really famous for) and that it was only about five minutes. It was a decent match for what it was and there was a few good moves in it but this match could have been a showstealer, if it had hardcore rules. The Blockbuster version shows the hardcore rules rematch, by the way. Battle of the Billionaries Hair vs Hair Match: Bobby Lashley w/ Donald Trump vs Umaga w/ Vince McMahon; Special Referee Stone Cold Steve Austin. Honestly, this match was all about the hype surrounding McMahon & Trump. For a wrestling match, it was just average until the last ten minutes where it started to become more fun. Stone Cold and Shane McMahon hold your attention in an otherwise very predictable match. Great entertainment especially a funny aftermath. Women's Champion Melina vs Ashley. This was the worst match on the card but also the shortest match on the card. The less said the better..and that is being nice about it. WWE Champion John Cena vs Shawn Michaels. Before I begin I want to agree with D.P., who has wrote some great wrestling reviews, that this match should have switched places with the Taker/Batista match. In that case, this would have been an outstanding undercard match but not a match worthy of being the main event. Michaels carries this match to make it awesome even though Cena did not sell most of the offense, including the story of Shawn "working" on Cena's leg. The ending has a good sequence but the final act was sort of predictable. I personally felt Shawn should have won but "Business is Business". Overall, this was a good WrestleMania but I would not rank it among the best. But definitely not among the worst like 2, 4, 9, 11, 15 or 16. There are three versions of this event, which I don't understand why. I recommend getting the special edition version that I received that includes the 2007 Hall of Fame, bonus matches and some nice promos. I would recommend getting it at a fair price.

Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy vs. Ken Kennedy vs. Edge vs. Randy Orton vs. Finlay vs King Booker vs. CM Punk in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match 9.5 out of 10 THS MATCH WAS RULED! Really GOOD spots in this match! Great Khali vs. Kane 5.5/10 not good at all ! United States Champion Chris Benoit vs. Montel Vontavius Porter 7.5/10 this match was NOT All that GOOD ! BUT GOOD ENOUGH TO WATCH! World Heavyweight Champion Batista vs. the Undertaker WoW 8.5/10 The ECW Originals versus the New Breed 7/10 Not the best, But They tried ! Bobby Lashley vs. Umaga in a Hair versus Hair Match 7.5/10 a funny/decent match! Women's Champion Melina vs. Ashley Massaro in a Lumberjill Match 6.5/10 nothing good ! WWE Champion John Cena versus Shawn Michaels 9/10 1 Heck of a match! these guy's just wouldn't Give Up ! If youR like Me +(who has over 65 wrestling dvds)+ and dont care about the event and if it was good or not ,then BUY THIS DVD ! BUT IF YOUR Pickey and are weird about what matches u watch! THEN DONT BUY !
