New Pokemon Snap

Few franchises have the ability to conjure up such immense nostalgia for people like the Pokémon series. And although it may not be a main series game, the original Pokémon Snap for the Nintendo 64 holds a special place in the hearts of many.

For two decades, the original Pokémon Snap was relegated to its reputation as a one-off title (multiple re-releases aside) of one of the biggest media franchises of all time. That is, of course, until June of last year when New Pokémon Snap was announced as a part of Pokémon Presents.

For those unfamiliar with the Pokémon Snap franchise in general, the core gameplay revolves around the player being tasked with, as the name might suggest, taking photos of various Pokémon in their natural habitats. So, rather than battling, training and catching Pokémon like in the main series games, Pokémon Snap offers a different, more relaxed (yet just as addicting) experience.

The original game featured 63 of the 151 Pokémon at the time and the sequel vastly improves upon that number. The new game, which will be released for the Nintendo Switch, will reportedly feature over 200 different Pokémon to take photos of and log. Speaking of the Nintendo Switch, the current-gen console and its ability to be played at home and on the go seems like a perfect fit for the more casual gameplay of Pokémon Snap.
