New Xbox Electric Volt and Daystrike Camo Wireless Controllers

A quality controller can make all the difference for console gamers. And while Xbox did a spectacular job with the Xbox Wireless Controller for the Xbox Series X|S, there’s always room for improvement and further innovation. The two newest controllers released by Xbox combine that innovation with unique aesthetics to give gamers a pair of controllers that should be a part of any Xbox arsenal.

Late last month, Microsoft announced the Electric Volt and Daystrike Camo Special Edition Xbox Wireless Controllers. Both controllers bring several new features and quality of life improvements to the table when compared to the base Xbox controller. Both of the new controllers are available for preorder now on antonline with the Electric Volt controller being $64.99 and expected to be available by May 7 while the Daystrike Camo controller is $69.99 and is expected to be available a week later on May 14.

Focusing on the Electric Volt controller first, Xbox has credited the vibrant colors often found in sneaker design and other athletic apparel as an inspiration for the aesthetic for this controller. An electric yellow resin coat helps this controller stand out from the crowd and it’s only complimented by the white back case and black coloring of the triggers, bumpers, buttons and D-pad. Not only does this controller look great but it feels great as well. Textured grip on the triggers, bumpers and back of the controller offer a more comfortable feel that adds a sense of control when playing.

As for the Daystrike Camo controller, the design is the first in the latest generation of Xbox controllers and the third installment in the company’s series following the releases of the Night Ops Camo and Arctic Camo Special Edition controllers.

While the Electric Volt controller takes inspiration from sneaker design and athletic apparel, the deep red, grey and black palette was chosen to “give a streetwear vibe to your game.” Like the Electric Volt controller, the Daystrike Camo Special Edition features textured grip as well as features like a hybrid D-pad and a Share button that are standard on the base Xbox Wireless Controller. Xbox’s Dynamic Latency Input feature also adds to the impressive responsiveness of these new releases. Xbox users can also use the Xbox Accessories app to customize the button mapping on these new controllers.

These controllers will be compatible with both the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One via Xbox Wireless Radio and will be playable on Windows 10 PCs and mobile devices with the use of Bluetooth Low Energy. This will give gamers the option to use their controllers on their phones or tablets via Xbox remote play or cloud gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. A membership to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can be bought individually on antonline or as a part of the various bundles we offer.

For the first time ever on any piece of Xbox Hardware, both Special Edition controllers will feature post-consumer recycled (PCR) resins. These resins are made with recycled materials such as plastic water jugs, CDs and automotive headlight covers. This change in material will provide the same high-level durability and performance that is associated with Xbox hardware and is a part of the company’s new effort towards waste reduction and recycling. Both controllers will feature standard 3.5 mm headphone jacks, USB-C plug-ins and AA battery support that allows for usage up to 40 hours.
